WWE Hall of Fame Inductee “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has signed on to be part of Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables. The cast will include Stallone, Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Charisma Carpenter.

As reported in f4wonline.com, WWE has released creative team member John Carle and Afa. Afa, who is a WWE Hall of Famer, recently helped train Mickey Rourke for his role in “The Wrestler” and there was said to be some heat on him for associating himself with the film considering Vince McMahon was not pleased with it when Darren Aronofsky screened it for him.

Mickey Rourke isn’t the only actor to kickstart his comeback by leaping from the top rope of a wrestling ring. Todd Bridges, who played Willis on “Diff’rent Strokes” made his pro wrestling debut in San Francisco at the DNA Lounge, in a match produced by Fog City Wrestling.

Mickey Rourke, the Oscar-nominated actor from The Wrestler, has been confirmed as attending the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania by WWE’s head of public relations. According to Sal Cataldi of Cataldi Public Relations, Robert Zimmerman, head of PR for WWE, stated that the actor is planning to be in attendance at the event.

Though he’s still waiting to find out if he will be named Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his role in “The Wrestler,” Mickey Rourke has already been honored as the Best Male Lead at the Independent Spirit Film Awards. During his raucous acceptance speech, the thespian not only showed appreciation for the film’s director, but also thanked Vince McMahon and WWE.

Scott Siegel, the actor who portrayed the wrestler selling steroids and other drugs to Mickey Rourke’s Randy “The Ram” Robinson character in The Wrestler, was arrested last night in New York. Following what is said to be a lengthy car chase, Siegel was arrested after fleeing his vehicle on foot with charges of steroid distribution and assaulting an officer.

The Wrestler has earned two Academy Award nominations. Mickey Rourke has been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his depiction of Randy “The Ram” Robinson while Marisa Tomei has been nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role as his love interest in the film.
